Various Publisher’s Receipts
These are returned publisher’s receipts which have been converted to gray-scale and manipulated in a photo-editor for clarity of black and white. We have used the description “publisher’s receipts” for these paper prints for want of a better term. They are printed images of original cartoons and illustrations that Claude Toles had sent to the syndicates, and which it is believed were sent back to him for his records. The use of stock numbers indicates that they may have been sent to prospective customers as well.
